In the world of country music a few names have become synonymous with the genre.  Very few names have become synonymous with country music and being a cowboy.  At the top of that list, you will find the name Chris LeDoux.

It seems rather fitting that the country star who was an actual cowboy has become best known for his song about cowboy hats, “This Cowboy’s Hat.” This song, which was recorded on his self-released album “Used to Want to be a Cowboy” and later re-recorded on his label debut album forever tied Ledoux to the country music genre and the idea of what a cowboy is in people’s minds.

Today friends and family of the late country icon gathered to celebrate the song earning an RIAA Platinum certification as well as debuting the official music video for the song which has the singer’s son, Ned LeDoux and his bandmate Lane Turner, in the video.  The staff of downtown Nashville’s Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky Tonk joined the party all wearing “Just LeDoux It” t-shirts as the crowd celebrated LeDoux’s life and legacy through song and enjoyed a big screen debut of the official music video for “This Cowboy’s Hat.”

“I love the story this song tells,” says the video’s director, Jeff Carter. “The Western setting, the flashback images, the honor and courage of the cowboy, the common ground, the resolution. As I learned more about Chris LeDoux the man, the ideas in the song were also the principles he stood for.”

Also, a touring artist, Ned performs his own music mixed with some of his dad’s many hits like "Western Skies," “Hooked On An Eight Second Ride," and "Cadillac Cowboy." He has upcoming dates across the U.S. and Canada through November 2024, and he vows to carry on the LeDoux brand of music the world knows and loves.
