Now that the summer season is in full swing, music lovers across Utah will be looking at their calendars and checking which shows they want to attend over the season.  With so many shows on the calendar there is no shortage of choices but for 90’s and early 2000’s alternative music lovers it is shaping up to be a great concert season.  We have already seen alt/rock heavyweights, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, sell out Utah’s premier concert venue, the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre (formerly USANA Amphitheatre).

To help alternative music lovers plan their summer we have put together a list of our top shows that we are looking forward to this summer.

Third Eye Blind with special guests Yellowcard

Third Eye Blind is in the middle of their fourth edition of the Summer Gods tour which will see them hit the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre on June 25th.  In the early 2000’s the band was one of the mainstays on alternative radio across Utah which made them the soundtrack to the summer for a lot of us.  That love for the band has never gone away as they always bring out the crowds each time they return to Utah.  Pairing them with Yellowcard who reformed in 2022 makes this a can’t miss show for many.  I think Third Eye Blind vocalist, Stephan Jenkins, summed up how we are feeling when the tour was announced, “I have this sense that I am feeling the same way everybody else is- That we need a summer tour so badly, like more than ever,” said Jenkins.  “We need the lights, the noise, the heat and everybody up close to each other, singing as one.  Can’t wait.”  I know we can’t wait either.

BUSH

No list of 90’s alternative concerts coming to Utah would be complete without mentioning Bush, who will make a stop at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre on July 31st on the Loaded: The Greatest Hits Tour along with 90’s heavyweights Jerry Cantrell and Candlebox.  Bush was one of the most successful bands in the US in the 90’s selling over 10 million albums and spawning numerous number one hits which will be played on stage during the greatest hits tour. â€‹

Alanis Morissette

Alt/rock singer songwriter, Alanis Morrissette, has had quite the time recently.  Following her 2021-2022 record breaking global tour celebrating 25 years of JAGGED LITTLE PILL, Morrissette is back on the road on her Triple Moon Tour with guests Joan Jett & The Blackhearts and Morgan Wade.  Morrisette will make her stop at The Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre on August 1st.  “I am inspired and heartened and feel giddy inside to be going on this upcoming summer tour with Joan and Morgan and all our teams,” Morissette said. “Can’t wait to see you, can’t wait to perform!”  I know fans in Utah can’t wait to see her either.

Creed

Multi-platinum rockers, Creed, will be hitting the road on their first North American tour together in over a decade on their Summer of ’99 tour.  The run will see them across the country with 40 stops including one in Utah at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre on September 6th.  Creed has remained one of the most prominent rock bands of all time and their enduring power with rock fans was evidenced when their Summer of ’99 cruise dates were immediate sell-out events.   This year also marks the 25th anniversary of their RIAA diamond certified album Human Clay which has rejuvenated interest in the band and opened the door to new fans that are just discovering the band now.
